A couple of thoughts…

  • I found it interesting that 62% of companies outsource their content, down 7% from 2011. Guess my takeaway is that there is still a huge opening for marketers to make a great living managing content and social media for local businesses.
  • We’ve always heard “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Well, according to this info, a picture is also worth 94% more views on your content. The morale of this story: Have an image/picture with every blog post/article you post!
  • Everyone says this is the year of mobile. Well these results show a more than doubling of mobile-optimzed content, up to 33% from 15% in 2011.
  • And most importantly, 90% of consumers find custom content useful.

So — bottom line — if you’re not already producing epic content — start! And if you are producing great, consistent, regular content now — be sure you’ve got images/pictures/videos and you’re optimizing your stuff for viewing on mobile devices.
