One Simple Trick to Increase Email Clicks by 35 Percent

Derek Halpern runs a blog called “Social Triggers” where he delves into really interesting stuff — like one of his latest posts (and video) on how to increase email clicks by 35 percent.

The interesting part though is how he got that increase. He conducted a simple split test and focused on whether a positive or negative email subject line would get more click throughs, or opens.

He ran a split test of an email to his email subscribers where he changed just one single word in the email subject line (and the copy) — and the results were drastically different. One email generated 35 percent more clicks than the other email… all because of this one little change.

But which worked better? Positive or negative?

You’ll have to watch the video below to find out, and hear Halpern talk about that change (and the psychology behind it).

It’s definitely a “must watch” video — and I’m sure you’ll start thinking differently about the way you frame your emails (and other communications) just from this one simple trick.

So what do you think? Was this a fluke or do you agree that it’s a positive move to go negative?
