IFTTT — If This Then That (ifttt.com) is a cool website that helps you automate a ton of your online activity, whether it’s personal or business related.

The simple premise is that if “this” occurs, you want “that” to happen. For example:

  • At sunrise (“this”) you get a text (“that”) with the day’s weather forecast.
  • If someone tags you in a Facebook photo (“this”) then save a copy of that photo in your Dropbox account (“that”).
  • Post an RSS feed (“this”) to your Blogger or WordPress blog (“that”).

The list of combinations goes on. In fact, the list of possibilities is almost endless with over 50 channels to create your “if this happens then that” scenarios.

And did I mention that this is free? How cool is that! Plus the website only requires a username and email address.

If This Then That is a simple to use website and a pretty simple concept to grasp — but the possibilities of what you can do with the service is pretty powerful!
