Social Media Marketing Infographic

Entrepreneur recently had an interesting article for small business owners and social media along with a great social media marketing Infographic (below).

Most small business owners know that an active presence on social media is crucial to staying relevant in their customers’ minds.

In fact, 82 percent of small-business owners say they use social media to engage with customers, according to a recent social-media awareness survey from online-marketing company Constant Contact.

The Infographic provides some good information for business owners and entrepreneurs on how to use social media to bring in more business. Interestingly, 82% of small businesses find Facebook effective, but only 15% find YouTube effective.

Is that because it’s easier to set up a Facebook page and many solopreneurs and small businesses think video is too hard and/or too expensive to get into?

And another interested finding was that a majority (54%) of small businesses admitted they need help with their social media marketing efforts — only 13% post daily to Twitter while on 24% post daily to Facebook, even though they admitted that Facebook was effective!

Two points here…

  • If you’re a small business owner or solopreneur, you have to carve out some time to get into and/or expand your social media efforts. If you’re not on social media yet, then pick one channel where you think you can start. For me, it’s Twitter. I use Buffer, which allows me to pre-schedule tweets (as well as posts to Facebook and LinkedIn) that I think will be helpful to my followers — and the whole process only takes 10-15 minutes a day as I go through my Feedly RSS reader.
  • If you’re looking for a great business to get in to and you like/use social media — become a local small business social media marketing expert. Pitch your services to businesses in your area that don’t have the staff or time to create and manage Facebook pages and Twitter feeds. For a few hundred dollars a month you could set up a business and manage their online visibility.

Some good stuff here in this Infographic, so let’s get right to it. Check it out and comment below on what you find most interesting.
