The 2019 Infinite Dial study released this month (March 2019) by Edison Research and Triton Digital revealed that, for the first time ever, one out of every two Americans now say they’ve listened to a podcast.
51 percent of Americans over the age of 12 say they’ve now listened to a podcast, that’s an estimated 144 million people. And that’s a huge jump from only a year ago when 44 percent of the U.S. population said they had ever listened to a podcast.
Podcasting listening has been growing between 3-4 percent ever since 2013. 2018 to 2019 was the biggest percentage jump ever. There are approximately 17 million more monthly podcast listeners in 2019 than there were in 2018. And 22 percent, an estimated 62 million people, have listened to a podcast in the last week. That’s up from 17 percent in 2018.
