Hello fellow marketers and welcome to Marketing Highlights, Episode #06, “Five Common Sense Things Every Podcaster Should Do.”
According to Robert Katai – not sure how to pronounce it and my apologies Robert if I got it wrong — Robert says that “It doesn’t matter if you are a big or a small company, you can [and should] have your own podcast show.” And he’s got five common sense things every podcaster should do.
Have a creative brand — branding is very important for your podcast. This is the point from which you will start your own show before even recording your first episode. Will it be branded with your name, like the Tim Ferris Show, or the Unshakeable podcast from Tony Robbins. Also, will it be a company’s podcast or do you want a creative podcast name?
Have a good website — if doesn’t matter if you’re streaming via iTunes, Anchor, Google Play, Spotify or SoundCloud, you need your own real estate – your own website. You can create a podcast page on your personal website or create a dedicated website for your show. There are numerous reasons why; check out the article for just a few.
Have a Podcast Press Kit — Having a press kit can help not only your friends and family to understand your podcast project, but can also help the press or other media outlets connect with your podcast.
Visual Content Strategy — Podcasts have to be promoted, and promoted on social, so you need visual content marketing. Think images, for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
Creative advertising – You’re already doing organic promotion, SEO, maybe even Google ads or social media ads on Facebook or Instagram. But about promoting your podcast in a different way, such as a billboard, a magazine or at an event.
